About ISEProgramsTeachersParentsStudents

We believe that you should choose a program that's right for you. ISE offers Spring Programs with travel in March / April and Summer Programs with travel in June / July. There are five different types of programs, each of which suits different needs: Standard, Staff-Guided, Special, Custom and USA Hosting.

STANDARD PROGRAMS

The Standard Program is designed for teachers who feel confident about traveling, who desire to share their knowledge with their students and who wish to be in charge of the day-to-day activities. The collective leadership approach of this program allows teachers to cooperate as a team for large group activities and to enjoy independence for their own small-group activities.

» On the Standard Program students are assigned to bus groups of 32 or more. ISE combines students from different schools to reach this required group size.

» ISE determines the travel dates, the family stay community and the itinerary. The itineraries in the booklet are samples of many variations possible based on the location of family stay communities and travel dates.

» The accompanying teacher/leader team (typically 4 - 6 in number) determines the daily activities for the group as a whole and/or for their own students.

» Program inclusions and base prices are fixed as printed in the program booklet.

STAFF-GUIDED PROGRAMS

This is a specific program designed for teachers who want to maintain high target-language standards but who have never traveled , who may be less familiar with the visited country or who do not wish to be in charge of day-to-day activities.

» On the Staff-Guided Programs students are assigned to bus groups of 32 or more; ISE combines students from different schools to reach this required group size.

» ISE determines the travel dates.

» The itinerary and included activities are fixed as printed in the program booklet.

» An ISE-appointed "Bus Teacher" accompanies the group and is in charge of planning and directing the daily learning activities with the support of the teachers. The teacher/leaders work as a team with the Bus Teacher to achieve the daily goals of the program. The beauty of the Staff-Guided Program is the presence of the Bus Teacher, which allows the leaders ample time to serve as language coaches and to spend time with their students.

» Program inclusions and base prices are fixed as printed in the program booklet.

SPECIAL PROGRAMS

Special Programs are specific, existing programs with fixed itineraries and are suitable for teachers with small groups and limited travel time.

» A minimum of 10 students is required.

» Some flexibility is available for travel dates.

» Program length is 10 or fewer days.

» Transportation is usually by train or van.

» Choices of daily activities vary from program to program.

» Program inclusions and base prices are fixed as printed in the program booklet.

CUSTOM PROGRAMS

A Custom Program is only recommended for teachers with prior travel experience in the visited country, who do not wish to join another group or who have very specific dates and/or itinerary in mind. The teacher is the group leader and is totally in charge of daily activities.

» The organizing teacher designs the itinerary and specifies all program inclusions and travel dates.

» If an ISE family stay is requested, it is subject to availability.

» A minimum of 10 students is required for a Custom Program.

» The price estimate for a Custom Program is based on the requested program inclusions and anticipated number of students.

Please note: Final price is determined by actual group size and program ingredients.

My students' view of the world and themselves has broadened and changed.
